During the hottest days of Summer, it can be highly rewarding to explore the waters of Presque Isle in a kayak! We are offering a one-day Introduction to Kayaking Class on August 17, 2021. The class is designed to help make you feel more confident and comfortable on the water, and will cover many things including basic paddle strokes, self-rescue techniques, kayak terminology, safety, and practice on the water. The class will begin at 9 AM, and continue until 3:00 PM. There is a limit of 15 participants. You must be at least 13 years old and know how to swim. The class is taught by ACA Certified instructors. It is requested that you bring your own kayak, paddle and life jacket. However, if you do not own these items, arrangements can be made for you to use our equipment, which is limited. We will meet at the Beach 11 Pavilion, which is located along the road to the Coast Guard Station after turning off the main park road. Thompson’s Bay will be our paddling area. Please bring a packed lunch, plenty of water, sunscreen, proper water shoes (no sandals, flip flops or bare feet), towels and a change of clothes if needed. You WILL be getting wet. A concession area and restrooms are nearby. Please register no later than Friday, August 13, 2021.

There will be a fee of $30.00 per person for this class.Once registered you will be able to pay by calling the park office at 814-833-7424.
