Intro to Backpacking for Women

Women are invited to join experienced state park staff for an all-inclusive guided backpacking trip for beginners along the North Country Trail from October 7 at 9:00 AM to October 8 at 1:00 PM.

The adventure will begin at Jennings Environmental Education Center with the basics of planning and packing for the trip. Participants will then get on the trail at Moraine State Park and will experience beautiful fall scenery, get tips on navigation and selecting gear, learn to cook and filter water in the backcountry and more.

Instruction, rustic overnight accommodation in trailside shelters, all meals and snacks, and all backpacking gear (sleeping bags, backpacks, cooking equipment, etc.) are included.

The pace and terrain will be moderate, but participants should be able to hike up to 6 miles or for at least 4 hours. This experience is open to women and girls ages 16 and up. All minors must be accompanied the entire time by an adult.
