Homeschoolers: Orienteering Basics
17215 Buffalo Road, Mifflinburg, PA 17844-9656
Families are invited to participate in our monthly Homeschooling Summer Series at Raymond B. Winter State Park! Certain programs will be recommended for a specific age group.
Orienteering is a fun outdoor sport where participants can test their navigation skills while following a course. Participants will learn how to read a map and use a compass to travel from one point to another. Then, families can compete in a park treasure hunt using only a park map and compass. This program is recommended to families and children at least 10 years old.
Families are required to register in advance to participate due to limited supplies. Online registration will close on June 25th at 12:00 PM.
If you need an accommodation to participate in park activities due to a disability, please contact the park you plan to visit. With at least seven days’ notice, interpreters for people who are deaf or hard of hearing are available for programs. For program questions or accommodations, contact the park educator at rebharner@pa.gov or 570-966-1455.
