Homeschool Day: Fascinating Fall Foliage (Grades 7-12)
2950 Pohopoco Dr., Lehighton, PA 18235-8905
This program is designed for homeschool or cyberschool students in grades 7-12.
Fall has arrived, and so has the beautiful foliage! Why do leaves turn different colors in the fall? Why do deciduous trees lose their leaves in the fall, but coniferous trees retain their needles? What do animals do to prepare for a long winter? We'll answer all of these questions, and discuss the science behind the changing of the seasons. We'll even throw in some tree identification. This will be an outdoor session, with an easy 1.0-mile walk around our Day Use Area. Students should wear sturdy hiking/walking shoes and dress for the weather outside.
We will be meeting at the Environmental Interpretive Center (EIC).
