Join park staff on this 3 mile hike, with moderate to difficult terrain to explore Hilltop Trail. This trail passes by different stages of forest regeneration, cavity-nesting bird boxes, and the remains of a springhouse. The trail is approx 3 miles and includes flat grassy areas and gradual inclines that lead to fields high above the highway and lake. Dress for the weather and bring your own drink and snack. Wear sturdy footwear. Turn left at the South Shore Park Office (225 Pleasant Valley Rd, Portersville, 16051) and go 1/3 mile up to the top of the hill - meet at the trailhead (small parking lot) near the entrance of Bear Run Boat Launch.
