Heritage Fiber: Sheep and Wool (for adults)

101 Swamp Rd., Newtown, PA 18940-1151

A history discussion and introduction to working with wool

10/10/22: We just added two more seats to attend this workshop. Please email btobin@pa.gov

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn about sheep in Bucks County, past and present, differences in their fleece/wool, and then create with this miracle fiber.

Sheep to Shawl is a favorite competition among shepherds. In a day long competition, shepherds take wool from live sheep and process it into a wearable item. In this workshop, we sample some of the steps in this process of transforming wool into fiber. Our goal is to complete two objects from wool—a flat piece of felt, and a wearable beret.

$15 materials fee due upon registration. Limited to 10 participants.

For information and to register, contact Bonnie Tobin at btobin@pa.gov.
