Hearth Tender Trail Workday

Join us Saturday, May 18th from 9 AM to 12 PM to continue construction of the 1.4-mile loop of the Hearth Tender Trail by digging, clearing, and tamping ground to create a quality sustainable trail tread.

 The Hearth Tender Trail is a stacked loop beginner to moderate hiking/biking trail system adjacent to Pine Grove Furnace State Park. The trail will connect to the existing Pole Steeple Trail and when completed the trail will include three different loops (3/4 mile, 1.4-mile, and a 4.1-mile loop). Rain or shine may be canceled in the event of severe weather.

Cell phone service is limited in this area, so please plan accordingly.

What to Bring:

  • Hand tools will be provided. If you have a favorite tool, you are welcome to bring it.
  • We’ll be using hoes, pick mattocks, cutter mattocks, rakes, wheelbarrows, and shovels.
  • Wear appropriate clothing and boots/sneakers.
  • Bring eye protection and gloves
  • Bring snacks and plenty of water.

The work site is located on Old Railroad Bed Rd. (GPS Coordinates. 40.03546, -77.28477) about a mile past the Pole Steeple Trail Parking Lot (https://goo.gl/maps/WJBLfXhEiXKTpFQx6).
