Great Backyard Bird Count Afterschool Program
3025 New Holland Road, Reading, PA 19607
Afterschool Program for ages 7 - 10. Come watch, learn about, and celebrate the birds that live in and around Nolde Forest EE Center. In this program, we will meet in McConnell Education Center Hall. Students will learn and practice bird identification indoors then move outdoors for a hike to count and identify birds. We will also search for old nests and evidence to suggest they may be establishing territories for new nests. After hiking we will return to the classroom for a short project and discussion.
Parents are welcome to drop their registered child(ren) off and, if you have other students outside of this age range, we invite you to take a winter forest hike with them, while we work on a learning about beautiful birds!
This program will take place both inside and outside. Please make sure all students are dressed appropriately to spend time outside. **Registration is required for ALL participants. Spaces are limited. There is a $5 fee for each student. The fee should be paid as students are dropped off. ** Register by clicking the green button in the upper righthand corner. *This program will only be cancelled in case of severe inclement weather. Please check your email to receive any cancellation updates.
