DCNR Calendar of Events

As humans we can only see a small part of the wavelengths of light. But there is a whole hidden world of colors and shapes that can be seen after dark with the help of a UltraViolet Flashlight.  Explore the hidden spectrum Nolde Forest after dark on this guided hike with a park educator. How does it feel to surrender your human senses and walk a normally well known trail with the eyes of a woodland creature?

Bring a regular flashlight for backup, but on this hike for ages 10 though adult we will walk the boulevard trail WITHOUT visible light to really immerse ourselves in the forest ecosystem after dark. Blacklight flashlights will be provided (one per family/group), but please bring your own if you have one to help us stretch our supplies – small handheld blacklight flashlights can be purchased at most hardware stores.

We will start indoors with a presentation about how blacklights work and how we can use them to see what animals see.
