Join Polly Shaw, local author, to explore the local lakes of the past. Thousands of years ago, the area's north-flowing creeks were blocked by the encroaching south-moving glaciers. Slippery Rock, Wolf, and Muddy Creeks, and a section near today’s historic McConnell's Run grist mill, all backed up and flooded the valleys where they once ran freely. These glacial lakes were named Lake Watts, Lake Prouty, and Lake Edmund. Much attention has been paid to Lake Watts, the predecessor of today's Lake Arthur in Moraine State Park. Let's look at the larger picture.
