Fungi in the Forest

***Pre-registration is required: please click the green "register" button to sign up for this program. Spaces are limited.***

***Meeting location: Tohickon Valley County Park, 165 Cafferty Rd., Pipersville, PA 18947***

Did you know that mushrooms are actually just the fruiting body of fungi?  There is so much more to fungi than meets the eye!

Join local fungi expert, Marion Kyde, along with a state park naturalist on a walk along the trails of Tohickon Valley Park (sister park to Ralph Stover State Park) for a slow stroll to identify and discuss the various mushrooms that we find.

Be prepared for the local weather (may be cool & a bit windy) by dressing in layers.  Wear sturdy, close-toed shoes and bring water.  This walk will be along uneven terrain with loose rocks & roots.  Distance walked will depend on how many mushrooms we find, size of the group, etc. but expect to cover 1-2 miles.

We will not be harvesting mushrooms for edible or medicinal purposes since this is a beginner program.
