Did you know that mushrooms are actually just the fruiting body of fungi? There is so much more to fungi than meets the eye! Join local mycology expert along with a state park naturalist on a walk along the trails of Tohickon Valley Park (sister park to Ralph Stover State Park) for a slow stroll to identify and discuss the various mushrooms that we find.
Be prepared for the local weather by dressing in layers. Wear sturdy, close-toed shoes and bring water. This walk will be along uneven terrain with loose rocks & roots. Distance walked will depend on how many mushrooms we find, size of the group, etc. but expect to cover 1-1.5 miles.
We will not be harvesting mushrooms for edible or medicinal purposes since this is a beginner program. If the weather is too dry leading up to Oct. 6th, this program will be postponed to a later date in October.
