***Meeting location: Giving Pond Recreation Area, 1125 River Rd. (PA-32), Upper Black Eddy, PA 18972***
Come join us on this moderately paced ~3 mile hike to watch the sun set & the full Wolf Moon rise in the east. We will listen for owls & keep an eye out for other crepuscular critters while learning about the history of the Delaware Canal.
After meeting at the Giving Pond Recreation Area, we will walk north around the pond till we hit the towpath. From here, we will walk south along the towpath to the only covered bridge that remains along the canal in the charming hamlet of Uhlerstown. We will walk across the bridge to see some of the well-kept, historic buildings then turn around and complete the Giving Pond loop.
- Bathrooms: There is a port-o-john at the meeting location.
- What to Bring: Appropriate footwear for walking is required. A flashlight or headlamp in case of cloud cover. Water.
- Special Considerations: This is an after-dark program. As much as we love our furry friends, this is not a dog-friendly program.
