In December 1862 General Burnside led Union soldiers across the Rappahannock River and up a hillside. On top of the hill were Confederate troops standing in a sunken road, behind a stone wall. This would become one of the biggest defeats for the Union in the entire Civil War. Join us at the Park Office.
