Fossil Frenzy: Digging into PA’s Past
1450 Suedburg Road, Pine Grove, PA 17963, USA
Did you know we have fossils right under our feet? Come learn about the types of fossils we find here at Swatara State Park, how they were created, and what they can tell us about our past. Then we’ll try our hand as paleontologists and dig for some fossils in our tried-and-true fossil hill! The park will provide plastic digging trowels, but feel free to also bring your own tools. Program will meet at the Swopes Valley Trailhead (40.522343,-76.469334) and we will walk (approx. 1/2 mile) to the fossil hill together.
All programs are subject to change due to weather or staffing shortages. Please check the DCNR Calendar of events or our Facebook page for cancellations or changes to programs. If you have concerns or require special accommodations, please reach out to us at least 72 hours prior to the event at 717-865-6470 or email us at qheist@pa.gov.
