Jennings Environmental Education Center and the park friends’ group, 3MJC, are seeking a few additional volunteer docents to help introduce visitors to the newly-restored Foltz School one room schoolhouse from June through December. A training session will be held Sunday, April 26 from 1 pm – 4 pm at the Foltz School.Register and apply by clicking the register button!

Volunteer docents will have the opportunity to become part of a dedicated team of volunteers, and share their knowledge and experiences with visitors, and be a part of preserving local history. No prior teaching experience is required, but volunteers should have good communication skills, a friendly demeanor, and a willingness to learn. Docents will receive training on the history of the schoolhouse and on how to orient visitors to the school and available activities and displays. Applicants should be interested in local history and education and be willing to commit to at least two open-house type shifts during the summer and fall. Shifts are typically four hours long, will be staffed by at least two docents, and are scheduled on the second Sunday of each month June – December from 12 pm – 4 pm, with other special events throughout the season.
