***Meeting at Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve
In celebration of the nation's 250th birthday, join PA DCNR and BHWP in a hike like no other. This hike will begin at the Preserve's Visitor Center and head down the iconic Parry Trail and see some of the spring ephemerals that call the floodplain home. From there, the group will work its way up Bowman's Hill to Bowman's Tower, along the way discussing the plants, people, and local history. The hike will end at the top of the tower with an awe-inspiring look at this section of the Delaware Valley.
Annastasia Soto is an environmental education specialist for the Delaware Canal and Ralph Stover State Park Complex. In addition to having a love for geology and history, she runs programs on rock formations, folklore, and local history through engagement with the outdoors.
Santino joined the Preserve's staff in October 2019 after serving most recently as the head of the Education Department for the Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art, a non-profit dedicated to the life’s work of one of Pennsylvania's unsung environmental heroes. Santino served as the lead for the Center's educational programming, helping visitors to leave more inspired by our natural world. Originally from central New York, he received his B.S. in Wildlife Management from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. An avid lover of the outdoors since his childhood spent just outside the Adirondack Park, he relishes all opportunities to share his passion for nature and science with others.
This hike, while under 1.5 miles in length will span an elevation gain of 350 ft. and a grade of 15%, or more, at some portions. Participants are encouraged to be prepared for the physical demands of the program.
