F.J. Sayers Dam Open House & Presentation

Free Event

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in coordination with state and local representatives invite you to a public open house and formal presentation to celebrate 50 years of operation for the Foster Joseph Sayers Dam, serving Centre County, Pennsylvania. Tours will be given at the F.J. Sayers Dam gatehouse and a formal presentation will occur near the F.J. Sayers memorial at 11 a.m.

F.J. Sayers Dam is operated and maintained by the Army Corps of Engineers. Since its completion in 1969, it has prevented more than $212 million in flood damages for downstream communities. The dam is named in memory of Private First Class Foster Joseph Sayers, a former resident of Centre County, who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his heroic service as a U.S. Army machine gunner in WWII. We honor this American hero and flood risk management project by opening our facilities to the public in their recognition.

Event will be held at 493 Ridge Crest Dr, Howard, PA 16841
