Start out the new year with a refreshing hike! Join us for one of two possible hiking choices in our Shoaff's Mill day use area. Both hikes will meet at the stage and pavilion 3 area. Pets are welcome, but please keep in mind that there may be up to 100 people on a hike, so it can get crowded. 

One hike will take on the Buffalo Ridge, a trail that is around 1.5 miles in length up and along the ridgetop, with an additional mile walk back on flatter terrain. There are a few options to turn around and hike back if needed, and our leader will stop and show you where along the way. Sturdy hiking footwear is recommended, and waterproof shoes are recommended if there is snow on the ground. If there is ice, we will NOT lead this hike as the rocks can be slippery and difficult in icy conditions. 

The second hike is going to be a more accessible, easier hike along the Mill race trail, or possibly the Blue Ball Tavern trail, depending on weather and guests wishes. The tavern trail is paved. We will be walking more slowly, looking for wildlife, birds, and other interesting things along the way. When we meet, we will discuss which route is preferred by the majority of the group. If you would like to request special accomodations, please reach out as soon as possible and let us know how we can make this hike more enjoyable. 

Please keep in mind that poor weather will cancel these guided hikes. Some of our staff and volunteers will be unable to make it out if the weather is bad. We will update our Facebook page and this event description if it happens to be cancelled.
