First Day Hike & 5K

Start out on the right foot in 2023 with a short hike, exploring nature in winter at Hills Creek. This slow-paced, family-oriented hike will be less than 1.5 miles in length. If conditions warrant, limited snowshoes will be available or you are encouraged to bring your own.

*Update 12/30/22 - Due to conditions, the hike will be on park roadways through the campground. The campground is closed to traffic this time of year, and more suited to hiking than the trails, which are a challenging mixture of ice and mud.

Also, back this year, is the 5K Fun Run around the lake. It's a no frills no cost run where you record your own time and have some fun challenging your friends to some healthy competition or just challenge yourself to healthy activity.

*Update 12/30/22 - 5K runners are advised to bring traction devices and use good judgement based on conditions. An alternative route on roadways may be suggested.

Come early or stay late – the sledding hill is nearby or you can explore more trails or the plowed campground roads throughout the park.
