DESCRIPTION:Start 2026 out right with a First Day Hike at Cowans Gap State 
 Park!\n\nWe will be offering 3 guided hiking sessions on Thursday\, January
  1\, 2026.\n\nAll hikes will start at Pavilion #2\, where free hot beverage
 s and snacks will be offered. Dress appropriately in layers for the weather
  and bring water to drink.\n\n \n\nLAKESIDE TRAIL HIKE - Sessions #1 and #2
 : This is the same hike\, offered at 2 time slots. The first hike will star
 t at 1:00pm\, and the second hike will start at 2:00pm. The hikes are 1.5 m
 iles long and are over easy terrain along the scenic\, level trail that enc
 ircles Cowans Gap Lake. This hike is a family and pet friendly hike.\n\n \n
 \nOVERLOOK TRAIL HIKE - Session #3: The hike to the overlook will begin at 
 1:00pm. This hike is 2.5 miles long over moderate to hard terrain. The hike
  is along the Knobsville Road Trail\, climbing Cove Mountain to the park ov
 erlook and may continue on to a second overlook depending on time and trail
  conditions. Wear sturdy shoes and dress comfortable.\n\n \n\nRegistration
