Fireworks of the Forest

Join Park Staff for a presentation on the lives of fireflies. Did you chase fireflies as a child? Do you feel like you see less fireflies now than you did then? You’re not alone!

In this mostly indoor presentation we will learn about the lifecycle of the firefly, how and why they glow, and what you can do to encourage their populations in your own backyard! Then we will take a short walk in the forest after sunset dark to see the different flash patterns of fireflies here at Nolde Forest.

While we encourage anyone interested in fireflies to attend, we will be getting into some of the technical science of fireflies which might be over the heads of younger children. Children are welcome, but this is not a children’s program.

Note: the fireflies are the fireworks - there is NOT a firework presentation happening at Nolde Forest.
