Fireflies: Nature’s Fireworks!

Fireflies are a quintessential part of the summertime experience, their soft glow on warm nights entice children to chase them in hopes of capturing them in glass jars. These are nature’s fireworks, lighting up the fields and forests during the summer months.
Join Jennings’ staff to celebrate International Firefly Day! A 45-minute outdoor presentation will be followed by a stroll along the prairie trails admiring the flashes of Pennsylvania’s state insect, the firefly. Registration is required and spaces are limited. Please register by clicking on the green button to the right or by calling the Center at 724-794-6011 no later than Thursday, July 1, 2021.
The following COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place:
- Masks: Jennings staff will wear masks when interacting with groups. For visitors, a mask is required for unvaccinated participants, and not required if you are vaccinated.
- We ask participants to stay home if they have been diagnosed with COVID-19, are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, or have been in contact with anyone who has been diagnosed or is experiencing symptoms.
