Family Science Outside: Prairie Ecosystem Exploration is an opportunity for families to learn together in the living lab of Jennings' one-of-a-kind prairie ecosystem. Register for your own individual time slot!
This program includes:
- Activities with the Jennings staff, including introductory explorations and guidance on using exploration tools
- A loaner kit to aid in your family’s investigations, including items like magnifiers, weather instruments, and more
- An investigation guide to complete together as a family while out and about exploring
Registration is required (see below)
When? August 16, 18, or 21. Families/cooperative groups/”pods” can register for their own time slot once/week. Time slots are available for one family/cooperative group/”pod” at a time (max 12 people/group) at 9, 11, and 1 each day.
Who? Especially meant for families with children in grades 2-6, but siblings welcome.
What? Investigate our region’s only public prairie and what makes it special. Plus discover seasonal changes and how that impacts the prairie. Activities are designed to last 1.5-2 hours.
How? Registration is required for each week’s sessions by clicking the register button or by calling 724-794-6011. When registering, register a responsible adult, and provide names for participants and ages for children in the “Additional Info We Should Know” section. Valid Driver’s License required for kit reservation.
