Our Fall Field Day is returning this year! Registration is now open!

Join us for a fun-filled day of hunting and fishing skills! Ages 12 and older are invited to participant in several classes designed to prepare you for a new hobby! All participants will rotate through each of the programs, which are listed below. More detailed descriptions of each event to come soon, so stay tuned!

Bass fishing - Mimic Baits instructors will get you out and introduce you to new lures and methods to target big bass. Discussions on technique, picking a spot, and fish behavior will help increase your chances of reeling in a fish of a lifetime.

Turkey Hunting - National Wild Turkey Federation volunteers will go over the ins and outs of turkey hunting in PA. Considered a more challenging hunt by many, turkey hunting can be incredibly entertaining and rewarding.

Fly fishing - A peaceful passtime, fly fishing is a popular sport that can seem a bit daunting to first get into. Trout Unlimited volunteers will help you will be fly fishing in no time!

Falconry - When most people think of hunting with animals, canines are usually the first to come to mind. But hunting with birds of prey goes back thousands of years. Licensed falconers capture wild birds, teach them to hunt, and release them after the season, providing for a unique hunting experience and teaching the raptor how to survive better on its own.

Trapping - We talk a lot about deer population control, but predator control is also crucial in helping to keep our ecosystem in balance. With the loss of our large predators from PA, humans must fill in the gaps to keep raccoon, fox, and other predators in check. Learn what it takes to get started and what rules help sustain the practice.

Tree Stands - Without a mentor, there's not many places to learn proper tree stand placement, but it's a crucial part of deer hunting. Join us for a crash course on tree stands!

Scouting & Tracking - How do you know where to hunt? Or how do you find out if your spot is as good as you think it might be? In this session you'll learn the basics of trail cameras and animal signs.

The cost of the field day is $10 per person and includes all above classes. Adults accompanying teens must also register. Any teen 12-15 years of age must be with an adult. Registration is set up through PPFF (PA Parks and Forests Foundation) and proceeds benefit the Way Car #12 restoration project.
