EYE Con Summer Science Institute for Teens

https://eyeconcamp.wordpress.com/EYE Con is an incredible summer science experience for students entering 9th grade through 12th grade, as well as graduating seniors. This institute (day-time only - no overnight) engages students in real world conservation science and provides 2 credits from Westminster College. Students design their own investigations, work one-on-one with professional ecologists and biologists, carry out scientific research, and present findings to peers and professionals, all while enjoying and having fun in our local parks.
PLEASE NOTE: It is free to apply. HOWEVER Applicants MUST register and pay for credit ($207.50) through Westminster College in order to be accepted. More information is provided after applying.
This year’s camp is all about “Conservation in a Changing Climate.”
Students will investigate what interests them about ecosystem monitoring and conservation in relation to climate change, which may include:
- Small mammal populations and habitats
- Spread of invasive plants
- Ticks and invasive species
- And more!
EYE Con, which stands for Experiencing Your Environment though Conservation, is facilitated by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy and Pennsylvania State Parks at Jennings Environmental Education Center

Transportation from the Western PA Conservancy Office on Washington's Landing, Pittsburgh, is available
What should students bring?
Each day students must bring lunch and a water bottle. Lightweight long pants, short or long sleeved shirts, sturdy close-toed shoes, and sunscreen are essential for EYE Con campers. Students should also considering bringing a hat and bug spray. Snacks and water are provided.
