Join the Pennsylvania Game Commission and DCNR for a FREE in-person outdoor recreation-focused event. Whether you're an outdoor enthusiast or just looking to learn about different types of outdoor recreation, this event offers something for everyone.

At the Explore PA Outdoors event, you'll have the opportunity to participate in various tracks, taught by experienced staff and volunteers, that will allow you to explore Pennsylvania’s waters, woods, wildlife, and hunting opportunities. Each track will focus on a different area of outdoor recreation (i.e. explore PA waters, explore PA woods, explore PA wildlife, explore PA hunting) and will be available in the morning and afternoon. Participants can sign up for one track or two, morning or evening, depending on what works best for you!

Participants will receive a free raffle ticket for each track they attend for a chance to win outdoor recreation themed door prizes. Walk-ins welcome but all participants who register by Saturday, August 12, 2023 receive an additional raffle ticket! This event is open to participants of all ages. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Explore PA Waters

With over 86,000 miles of waterways, Pennsylvania provides many opportunities to fish and boat. Whether you are a soon-to-be avid angler or just looking to learn about the reptiles and amphibians you may find near water, this track will provide you with the steps needed to help you explore PA waters!

Explore PA Woods

Did you know that Pennsylvania has 124 state parks and 20 state forests available for Pennsylvania residents to enjoy? This track will introduce you to outdoor recreation activities--like hiking, backpacking, camping, geocaching— that will help you explore the beauty of Penn’s woods.

Explore PA Wildlife

Get ready to immerse yourself in the beauty of nature and discover the hidden gems of Pennsylvania—our wildlife! Learn about some of Pennsylvania’s beloved species of wildlife and potential wildlife viewing opportunities in Pennsylvania from your state wildlife agency!

Explore PA Hunting – Introduction

Have an interest in hunting but don’t know where to start? This track is for you! From where to go to what gear you need, this track will provide you with the information you need to get started hunting.

Explore PA Hunting – Advanced

During this track, participants will learn about game behavior, gear, tactics, and skills need to be successful during different seasons.
