Join French Creek Staff and Volunteers as we tackle Earth Day with a series of projects around the park!
For those families who want to participate with young volunteers we will have a clean up happening around Hopewell Lake, the Park Office, and Playground areas. Bags will be provided! We can also use help removing fallen sticks/branches off the trails and into the woods all along the Hopewell Lake trails.
For those able to put in a little extra work we have an area of trail near the Hopewell Boat Launch parking lot that is in need of some TLC. Right now in the spring and during wet periods in the summer it is less trail and more sloppy, muddy, mess. We need volunteers to help trench either side of the trail to capture and divert water flow and spread stones on the trail to raise the low laying areas.
Further down that same path we will be working to close rogue trails with brush and timbers to prevent hikers from blazing their own path and causing erosion problems. This work will be lots of hauling and piling wood and sticks.
If you have what it takes wear your work boots and join us!
Please register so we will have a headcount for projects and so that we can reach out via email closer to the event with meeting times and assignments.
In case of inclement weather, the rain date will be the next day, Sunday April 22 (Earth Day!). An group email will alert you to this change.
Meet at the Hopewell Boat Launch Parking Lot Loop.
