Dynamic Forest Restoration

Conservation efforts throughout the 20th century have led to a great reforestation on public lands throughout the state. Much of the conservation management until recently has been in the form of the “set it and forget it” approach. As more data emerges about the impacts this hands-off approach to land management has on our ecosystems, conservation efforts are evolving to promote diverse habitats within our natural communities. This approach to land management is multifaceted and often acts to mimic natural processes, such as fire that have been absent for much of the last century. Join us as we discuss the future of conservation efforts within state parks.
