Discover Porters Cove Paddle – Wednesday, July 20, 2022
6:00 PM – 8:30 PM – Porters Cove Boat Launch – Moraine
Join park staff on a guided ecotour of Porters Cove. Learn about the history behind the cove’s name, what existed in this cove before the park, the tributaries flowing into the lake here, and the flora and fauna we see along the way. Grab a pair of binoculars and your kayak because Porters Cove is abundant with wildlife. You might get lucky and have a heron take off right next to your kayak, while a beaver swims past. A brief introduction to kayaking will take place onshore before we hit the cove. Ages 12 and up, under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Kayak and gear will be provided, or bring your own. Lifejackets are required to be worn during the entire program Dress for the weather, bring drinking water and a snack. All current health guidelines will be followed. Reservations are required and open July 7th. To reserve your spot, call the Park Office (724) 368-8811.
