Experience the awesome power of water on our dam release hike! Join us for this unique opportunity to view the outflow of our semiannual dam release. Hike along with the park educator on a moderate, four-mile hike along Lake Nockamixon.
Enjoy the scenic lake-view trail, as we meander through the woods, along creeks, and among the pines. This trail is slick when wet and will lead us through two easy, trickling stream crossings. Once at the dam, we will spend some time for photos and discussion, before hiking back to the parking area by way of gravel and paved access roads. We will be hiking during both days of the annual Fall White Water Release at Nockamixon. Please register for only one hike.
This hike traverses uneven terrain. Some hiking experience is recommended. Children must be at least 10 years old to participate, and no children under the age of 18 may attend without a guardian. We also ask pets to sit this one out. Water, snack, and sturdy hiking boots required. As we will be hiking in a hunting area, an orange vest will be provided to you, or bring your own.
*NOTE: The dam area is closed to the public. Program participants will be accompanied by a Ranger providing special permission to view the release for this program.
The meeting location is at the parking lot on Tower Road.
