Experience the awesome power of water on our dam release hike! Join the park educator for this unique opportunity to view the outflow of our biannual dam release. Using paved and gravel access roads, we will make our way to the dam. Once at the dam, we will spend some time for photos and discussion, before walking back to the parking area. We will be hiking during both days of the annual Spring White Water Release at Nockamixon. Please register for only one hike. Due to the popularity of this event, we also ask that if you've been on this hike before, please refrain from registering again this year.
While the paved and gravel portions of our walk will be even and level, this hike does include one steep incline at the area of the dam, and potentially slippery conditions around the outflow. Total mileage covered will be 3 miles. Some hiking experience is recommended. Children must be at least 10 years old to participate, and no children under the age of 18 may attend without a guardian. We also ask pets to sit this one out. Sturdy hiking boots required.
*NOTE: The dam area is closed to the public. Program participants will be accompanied by a ranger providing special permission to view the release for this program.
The meeting location is at the parking lot on Tower Road.
