Clear Creek Archaeology Dig
38 Clear Creek Park Road, Sigel, PA 15860-6702
Be an archaeologist for a day! Come join archaeologists Amanda and Brian at the Frazier Sawmill Blacksmith Shop dig. They are uncovering the ruins of a late 19th century blacksmith shop once associated with the Frazier Sawmill on Clear Creek. Dig into the past to find artifacts that help depict what occurred in the blacksmith shop over 100 years ago. Artifacts found in previous years at the site include various metal working tools used by the blacksmith, the remains of a glass bottle and a food storage crock along with fragments of a clay tobacco pipe. Learn how archaeologists discover the past by participating in the excavations, mapping, and the identification of artifacts.
Come for an hour or for the day to dig, map, or just learn about archaeology and the history of why they are here! Great for all ages!
