The Friends of Kings Gap Present CELTIC HIGHLAND GAMES
Join the Friends of Kings Gap for the 2nd annual Kings Gap Highland Games, as part of the Summer Celtic Celebration! There is no cost to watch the games. Tickets are only for those wishing to learn and compete in the games. This event is meant for novice throwers.
For High School Track and Field Throwers, this will provide a unique summer training and competition venue to advance your skills in a new way.
For people of all ages, simply joining the training session allows you to challenge yourself in feats of strength you never thought possible, while also joining the elite ranks of the Caber Club! The sense of accomplishment by simply tossing your first caber or putting your first stone is an extraordinary feeling, which will boost your self-confidence.
Training Session: The Highland Games Academy out of Gettysburg will provide a training session on the Caber Toss, Weight for Distance, and Stone Put beginning at 8:00 AM on 31 August at Kings Gap State Park. Competition will begin at 10:00 AM.
Private and group lessons are available upon request prior to the competition, simply book a taster session at https://www.highlandgamesacademy.com.
Competition Categories. There will be 3 competition categories for both males and females:
- Lads and Lasses (14-19)
- Seniors (20-44)
- Masters (45+).
The top three scorers in each age group with the highest combined total score from all three events on Day 1 will advance to the finals on Day 2.
Awards. Individual events awards in each age group will be given on Day 1 of the competition to the top three throwers in each event. The overall placement awards in each age group will be presented on Day 2.
Food. Food vendors will be on sight throughout the day.
Music. Live music will be provided by Fire in the Glen from 1 PM - 3 PM.
