GREENWOOD FURNACE - Come and join us for a peaceful park walk under the near full moon on Saturday, November 16, at 6 pm. Meet at Pavilion 1, near the Ballfield.
When the sun goes down, and the full moon comes out, a strange new world emerges. A world filled with creatures of the night. The darkening sky brings forth a realm of mystery as you walk in the moonlight. The cool crisp air makes the stars look like shimmering diamonds in the sky. The hoot of an owl pierces the still of the night, and raises the hair on the back of your neck. Such is the magic of the night in the park under the light of the silvery moon.
Discover how bright moonlight actually is. We’ll look up at the starry skies, and listen for an array of nocturnal creatures. Following the hike, we return to the pavilion for some hot chocolate, toasted marshmallows, and s’mores. Allow 2 hours for the program. The hike is an easy one mile loop. Wear sturdy shoes, dress for the weather, and bring a flashlight.
