Blue Ball Tavern Tours
1579 State Park Road, Newport, PA 17074-9428
Visit one of the oldest structures in Perry County to see some amazing artifacts from the surrounding region! This museum is open Sundays in the summer from Memorial Day to Labor Day, as well as during festivals and special events such as Apple Festival. The vast collection, managed by the Historical Society, represents a little of everything, including historic artifacts from Indigenous people, local railroads, boy scouts, agriculture, the Civil War, and various local businesses. The basement of the structure was the original tavern room and is renovated to look as it would have in the late 1700s and early 1800s. No food or drinks are served anymore, but at one time this place was an important hub for the locals. Stop in during hours, from 1-4pm, and check it out! It is always free, but donations towards the Historical Society for maintenance and upkeep are always welcome.
