Join us for The Great Backyard Bird Count at Delaware Canal State Park! The Great Backyard Bird Count is a citizen science project hosted yearly by Cornell. It allows us to help scientists learn more about birds by documenting and sharing what species we are seeing. For our park count, we will be at the Giving Pond Recreation Area. There will be a limited number of binoculars to borrow, so please bring your own if you have them. All experience levels are welcome.

This hike may be cancelled or postponed in the event of inclement weather or hazardous driving conditions.

  • Bathrooms: There is a port-o-john at the parking lot or there are flush bathrooms at the park office (driving directions in link - 1.5 miles/ 2 minute drive).
  • What to Bring: Layers are suggested. Binoculars if you have them.
  • Special Considerations: As much as we love our furry friends, this is not a dog-friendly program.
