Advanced Watershed Education Chemistry-Only Teacher Workshop

Watershed Education (WE) is an inquiry-based, interdisciplinary curriculum that is geared for students in grades 6-12. Developed by the DCNR Bureau of State Parks, WE helps educators utilize local natural resources as a valuable teaching tool. This workshop will specifically focus on the chemical water quality sampling component of the curriculum. Teachers who are already familiar with educating about watersheds and water quality issues will benefit from this advanced workshop that will provide resources on how to teach chemical concepts, how to maintain water quality testing equipment, and how to manage a chemistry lab outdoors.

Educators attending this workshop will receive the chemistry portion of the Bureau of State Parks award-winning Watershed Education curriculum and their own water quality test kit. Cost is $10 payable at the workshop with cash or check made payable to the "Commonwealth of Pennsylvania".  Participants will receive 3 Act 48 hours. Registration is required. For questions or help with online registration contact Lauren Forster 610-746-2801 laforster@pa.gov.
