Adaptation Art and Book Reading with Joey Strain

Families, join local student, artist, and children’s author Joey Strain for a reading of his work The Whacky Woodland Alphabet Book. In the book, Joey takes us through the alphabet of imaginary woodland creatures… and teaches us what makes each wacky creature special.

After the reading, Joey and Ms. Sarah will explain what “adaptation” means and how all creatures, real and imaginary, have adaptations to help them survive. Then it will be time for YOU to try your hand creating your very own whacky woodland creature. You’ll get to design, draw, and explain your creation to the group, including what makes your creature special in this very special scientific art project.

Joey will also be on hand to talk to participants about his work and sign copies of his book which is available here, here, here, or hereBooks will not be available on site to purchase, so please bring your copy along if you’d like it signed.

This program is fun for all ages but is geared towards learners in 1st-4th grade and their adults. However older and younger learners will still be able to participate.

Spaces are limited, so please register your entire group to help us track numbers.
