During this Outdoor Adventure Workshop at Jennings Environmental Education Center on Saturday, September 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Girl Scouts ages 12 and older will discover the thrill of the chase and how to GO Orienteering!
The workshop will cover basic map, navigation and compass skills, tips for success, plus time on a basic orienteering course.
Space is limited. Registration is FREE, but is required by Wednesday, September 7. Register by clicking the green button to the right or by calling the Center at 724-794-6011. *For more than one individual, register as a group, you will need the name of each person in your group*
Orienteering is an exciting sport that involves using a map and compass over various terrain to find hidden “control points.” Originally an exercise for the military, the sport originated in the Scandinavian countries in the 19th century. In the United States, clubs across the country host orienteering events and competitions throughout the year.
