A Universe of Stories: Potter & Tioga Libraries Under the Night Skies
4639 Cherry Springs Road, Coudersport, PA 16915
DCNR is proud to partner with the public libraries of Potter and Tioga Counties to present this cooperative program in conjunction with the libraries’ summer program. This year's theme is A Universe of Storiesand the program is being held during the actual week of the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing. Library staff will provide information about the counties libraries from 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM on July 18, 2019 at the Park.
The presentation will begin at 8:00 PM. Curt Weinhold, well-known Coudersport photographer, will be discussing the night sky and photography. Jessica Spencer, Northern Tioga School District teacher, will be reading tales about the constellations. And, Bonnie Kyofski, retired Mansfield University professor, will enchant us with her storytelling. We will end the night with a laser-guided star tour highlighting several legends in the night sky, and finally a telescope observation of some of the more prominent objects, including Jupiter and its moons.
In the event of rain or severe weather, the program will be cancelled. If cloudy, everything but the laser tour and stargazing will still occur. Registration is appreciated to help in planning, but not required.
