Join the park naturalist to look for black raspberries and blackberries and learn about foraging in PA. Expect to hike on relatively flat terrain for a distance of approximately 1.5 miles. We will stay on the trails, but long pants and bug repellant are recommended to venture off the sides of trails into the taller vegetation (as you see fit). All ages are welcome, but please bring your own bucket to hold berries.

This class will be from 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM.

Topics covered include basics on fly fishing gear, knots, flies, casting, and practice fly fishing at Foster Joseph Sayers Lake!

All fishing equipment and instruction are provided for FREE. Make a weekend of it! Invite your female friends, family members, or neighbor on a camping trip/Nature Inn stay at Bald Eagle State Park--you could visit the PSU Cremery, downtown State College, enjoy the park, and explore the surrounding area after spending Saturday morning learning how to fly fish (OR brushing up on your fly-fishing skills).

Pre-registration is required. Registration will close by 4p.m. 6/5/26 OR when the class registration is full. Exact meeting location will be provided in the confirmation email you recieve upon signing up.

In celebration of America's 250th Anniversary, we have planted a sample colonial garden containing plants that would have been used during the Revolutionary War period and earlier. We will give 15-30 minute tours of our small Colonial Garden on rotation all throughout the program period. The group will also have the opportunity to learn about the importance of native species in PA and discuss some plants that are part of the garden collection.

If participants want to volunteer, they can assist in maintaining our Native Plant Garden by weeding, planting, mulching, or generally helping with any tasks needed to keep the garden healthy and looking beautiful. Feel free to bring hand trowels, weeders, or whatever tools you feel comfortable using.

Participants will have the opportunity to briefly try their hand in archery and shoot a few arrows. This program is informal and participants will be able to stop by anytime during the program hours. Our range can only support a few people shooting at a time, so some visitors may need to wait 15-20 minutes for their turn if the range is full.

***Children must be at least 10 years old to participate. Every person who wants to try shooting will have to sign a waiver (guardians will need to sign for children). All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult for the entirety of their visit to the program. No dogs please.
