Presque Isle State Park

Presque Isle State Park is a 3,200-acre sandy peninsula that arches into Lake Erie. As Pennsylvania's only "seashore," Presque Isle offers its visitors a beautiful coastline and many recreational activities, including swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, bicycling and in-line skating. A National Natural Landmark, Presque Isle is a favorite spot for migrating birds. Because of the many unique habitats, Presque Isle contains a greater number of the state's endangered, threatened and rare species than any other area of comparable size in Pennsylvania.

This was a great hands on program for the kids. Several different activities for the children and it kept their attention and gave them a chance to touch and see and feel.

On line registration was full, we went early to sign up for a later trip and were lucky there was a no show and got on. The volunteers were very nice. It was fun and informative. We are planning on trying an evening ride. Visiting the park is still worth the drive even if the boat rides are all full.

We came from out of town and Google sent us to the Tom Ridge Center (which was closed) based on the address associated with the event. We also were sent to the lighthouse. It was very strange. Googling Presque Isle State Park map, a PDF comes up and you can see on there near Misery Bay info about Pontoons and lagoons. We figured that was where we should go and arrived in the nick of time! I did add Evening Lagoon by Pontoon to Google Maps hoping that would help get some people to the right place in the future. The tour guides were great and told us about the things we saw and slowed down at times for pictures and for us to enjoy the serene atmosphere. Lovely experience!

I cannot review this event because it never happened. Due to the ignorant, inconsiderate people who signed up online for this event and then failed to show up, the event was cancelled. To say that I am disappointed and upset is an understatement. It is very disheartening that people are so inconsiderate especially when the staff and volunteers do such an excellent job of planning and preparing for these events. I loved the ability to sign up on line but fear this will be eliminated due to high number of no shows. Most likely I will not be able to sign up for this event again because all the available dates are taken. And not sure if I want to waste my time driving to the event only to be informed it is cancelled once again. I don't know of a viable solution to eliminate or at least minimize the no shows. My suggestion is to put the no shows on a list and when they sign up for an event, they are placed on the waiting list or charged a no show fee which must be paid prior to signing up for another event.

Another great program. Those who sign up but don't show up are missing great programs. The DCNR educators always make their programs informative and fun. Can't wait for the next installment in the Primitive Skill Series.

I wouldn't know how it was yesterday since I am not scheduled until 7/13. But, if it is like any of the programs presented by the DCNR educators, it should be great. I am looking forward to the event.
