McConnells Mill State Park

McConnells Mill State Park, in Lawrence County, encompasses 2,546 acres of the spectacular Slippery Rock Creek Gorge. Created by the draining of glacial lakes thousands of years ago, the gorge has steeps sides and the valley floor is littered with huge boulders and is a national natural landmark. A gristmill built in the 1800s is open for tours. The park is open from sunrise to sunset, year-round.

I feel like I need to take this class a half a dozen times to truly absorb all the good content of the class. The teacher was very good and held attention very well. The free booklet to help me id trees on my own is a huge help to me and I would recommend this class to anyone with any interest in trees.

Enjoyed the guided tour of the mill. Loved the bluegrass music--spent the afternoon listening.
