French Creek State Park

Once an industrial complex for the fledgling United State of America, today French Creek State Park is an oasis for people and wildlife. Straddling the Schuylkill Highlands, the 7,730-acre park is the largest block of contiguous forest between Washington D.C. and New York City. The forests, lakes, wetlands and fields are a destination for the people of southeast Pennsylvania to hike, fish, camp and bike.

We had a great time at the firefly presentation. I would absolutely recommend it for adults and school age children who want to learn more about these fascinating insects, what makes them glow, why they do it and how we can help them out. The park ranger was knowledgeable and her enthusiasm was contagious.

We had such a great time doing this. I've never been kayaking before but our lead, Katie, was a great help as was the rest of the group. Katie provided some really interesting information during the trip itself. Can't wait for the next one; this was wonderful.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this event! The park rangers are super nice and full of information. We learned a lot, took a nice little hike, and had roasted marshmallows afterwards.

Katie was knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic. The hike was a great way to explore trails we may not have chosen on our own.

The hike was great; hike leader, Katie, was friendly and knowledgeable about the trail and area we hiked. The other people who were along made the hike fun as well! Loved it especially with the fall colors starting.
