This week's hike will end at the park, but please note carpool location and meeting times below. This hike is being led by hiking avid, Daryl Warren, who volunteers to lead twice-weekly hikes in our area. Email him to be added to his weekly email list or to find out more at email@example.com
Hike a recently improved (2017) section of the Mid State Trail. This is an 8.3 mile jaunt from Cherry Flats north to Hills Creek State Park. The trail is relatively moderate in difficulty, but there are some easy hills to climb. A maximum elevation of 1,950 feet and a minimum of 1,416 feet is spread out over a long distance. I’ll rate the hike a 3.0 on a five point scale with one being the easiest and five the most strenuous. Meet at Packer Park, 3 Queen St., Wellsboro at 9:00 a.m. We’ll shuttle to the Tauscher Parking area at HCSP and then drive to Cherry Flats to hike north. Depending on stream conditions we may need to take high water routes instead of stream crossings. There may be icy spots so please come prepared with foot traction devices, plus lunch.
