Greenwood Furnace State Park and the Friends of Greenwood Furnace, Whipple Dam, and Penn-Roosevelt State Parks welcome everyone to the annual Holiday Open House on Sunday, December 3, from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Visitor Center.
Come to the festivities and take part in a variety of holiday traditions. Activities go on throughout the day, so there is something to do for all ages.
Note: Due to circumstances beyond our control, there will not be horse-drawn carriage rides this year. Some earlier advertising included information that we will have rides. These were distributed before the change. We regret the change, and hope to return rides next year.
Make your own old-fashioned and natural tree and holiday ornaments. Children can visit with a Victorian Santa Claus.
Enjoy our Victorian Christmas tree, decorated with many traditional ornaments typical of the 19th century.
Local resident and “gizmologist” Bill Metzel and his family will be presenting programs and displays revolving around the heritage of toys and games that were handmade in the past.
The newly restored charcoal wagon will also be on display.
Activities and crafts are free except for the carriage rides, which is by a donation to the Friends group of $4 per adult and $1 for children under 18.
Light refreshments will be available, including homemade cookies provided by the Stone Valley Community Charter School and hot spiced apple cider.
For more information, please contact the Park Office at 814-667-1800 on weekdays from 8 AM to 4 PM.
