One of the best ways to truly experience the majesty of fall is a visit to the Pennsylvania Wilds coupled with a stay at the Nature Inn at Bald Eagle. This year, we’ve partnered with the Elk Country Visitor Center (ECVC) to bring you an adventure-filled two night getaway in early October celebrating over 100 years of elk in PA!
Arrive in time for Friday evenings Meet the Naturalist program to meet and greet your guide for the weekend, discuss logistics, and answer any questions you may have regarding elk and the PA Wilds. A special welcome dinner awaits you and will provide an opportunity to converse with fellow travelers over a hearty meal. After dinner, gather in the library for a screening of Pennsylvania Elk: 100 Years of Restoration, to kick off the elk viewing weekend.
After enjoying a hot breakfast Saturday morning, pick up your prepared lunch and meet the park naturalists to begin your auto tour of the PA Wilds! This self-driving Pennsylvania Scenic Byway tour will take you through breathtaking scenery. A stop at Hyner View State Park will highlight the tour through an impressive mountaintop lookout and a short cultural history program of what lies below your view. The auto tour will conclude at the ECVC where staff will present an exciting program about elk in Pennsylvania, accompanied by live elk viewing on the center grounds. You will also receive tickets to a screening of The Elk in the center’s immersive 4-D theatre. This will be followed by an old fashioned wagon ride around the grounds which will provide another chance for viewing elk against the colorful early Autumn backdrop. Be sure to bring your cameras and to dress for the weather!
Pricing includes all items detailed to the right. Guests must provide their own vehicle for the auto tour or carpool with others. Total mileage of the auto tour from Bald Eagle State Park to the ECVC is about 160 miles round trip. Call to reserve your spot today!
