Black Forest Star Party: Public Night

The general public is invited to attend this evening of the Black Forest Star Party hosted by the Central Pennsylvania Observers. This is a great opportunity for the public to take a look through the many different types of telescopes set up on the field and speak with the visiting astronomers. Bring a small flashlight as red filters will be provided.  Please park at the Night Sky Viewing Area and walk across Route 44 to the Astronomy Observation Field.  Visitors attending are asked to vacate the Astronomy Observation Field by 11 p.m.

The park asks that visitors to the Night Sky programs please leave their pets at home. Dim lighting, large crowds and sensitive equipment do not create a pet-friendly environment.

Visitors may want to check the Clear Sky Chart for 48-hour forecasts of cloud cover and viewing conditions.

This event will be cancelled in the event of rain or thunder.

The Black Forest Star Party will be held Sept 22-24 2017. This is a pre-registration only event. It is held on the Astronomy Field of the park and you must be registered to attend for all activities except the public viewing night. There will be no public programming by park staff during this event. For more information and to register please go to the following website. http://www.bfsp.org
